The was held in mid-January in 1946 to commemorate the conclusion of and the Allied victory over the Axis Powers in all theaters of the war, helped by the service of millions of Americans who served under the armed forces and the National Guard, in addition to the state defense forces.
This practice was abandoned in 1991 though parades were recently held every five years beginning in 2011 during the and again in 2016.
In 2015, a Victory Day Parade was held in the Kyrgyz capital, being presided by Prime Minister and in place of President , who was attending the that same day.
