In general, I try to steer my clients away from thinking they have an addiction and toward a more thorough analysis of the hole in their life they're trying to fill with that activity — the positive things that activity does or can bring into their lives, a larger understanding of how that activity might fit into a healthy, positive, self-acceptable way of behaving, how it might bring them power, how they might lose the shame, etc.
Little does she know, she's sitting right in front of her.
I do not simply 'do whatever the client asks' even within my limits.
